AUD study guide
AUD CPA Exam Study Guide for 2026.
AUD rewards candidates who can apply audit judgment. Memorizing terms helps, but most improvement comes from practicing risk assessment, evidence, assertions, reporting consequences, and professional skepticism in context.
What AUD tests
AUD covers ethics and responsibilities, planning and risk assessment, obtaining evidence, and forming conclusions and reports. The exam often asks what the auditor should do next, what evidence is most persuasive, or what reporting consequence follows from a fact pattern.
How to study AUD
Use short practice sets, review every missed explanation, and keep a running list of weak topics. AUD is wordy, so slow reading and careful elimination matter more than rushing.
High-value topics
Spend extra time on assertions, audit risk, internal control, confirmations, sampling, subsequent events, going concern, and modified opinions. These topics connect to many different question styles.
Suggested weekly rhythm
Practice questions four to five days per week, review flashcards for weak concepts, and spend one session each week reworking bookmarked questions without looking at prior answers.
